CCVID De-certification Update 1/23
It was a busy day at the State House last Friday, 1/20. The Senate passed their version of the bill which had taken CID’s out. The House also passed their version of the bill but CID’s were still included. Both groups must have the same version of the bill so now members from each will get together in what they call “conference” and hash things out until there is one version. This is our big opportunity to get CID’s out of the final version so that is why it is important that we keep writing every senator and delegate and especially your own senator & delegate even if you are not CID. The lobbyist says our grass roots efforts are working. The General Assembly understands we are a force to be reckoned with and that we will not back down! Please see below for a letter from our lobbyists explaining the day’s events.
Thanks again for everyone’s support!
We must make a case demonstrating the financial impact of decertification to CIDs who are business owners. Please contact Kim Schoenadel, for assistance in preparing their letters. kschoenadel@ksainteriors.com or 804-527-0131 x 102
Governor McDonnell approved the recommendation that Certified Interior Designers be included in the list of professionals to be de-certified. This recommendation will now go to the General Assembly for a vote. The Regular Session for the General Assembly started on January 12, 2012. It is our urgent duty to educate our Delegates and Senators about the economic impacts of ending the certification of Interior Design. Our legislator’s want to hear from their constituents, so again, we strongly urge you to write your legislators if you have not already. Use the attachments issued by CCVID to assist you in utilizing unified talking points and the do’s and don’ts of legislative letter writing.
Please forward a draft of your letters to our lobbyist Angie Bezik, abezik@principle-advantage.com. This will keep her informed of the number and content of the letters as she reaches out to our legislator’s individually.
If you need any help getting started on your letter, please utilize this example:
